The quality of molded plastic parts is all about control. Edge's process, a proprietary form of compression molding, offers an unprecedented level of control of time, pressure, and heat added to or removed from the system. The image below shows a typical molding run, where the entire tool cavity is brought from room temperature up to the plastic melting temperature, held while the material is molded, and then cooled under force back to room temperature.
Our propriety molding process carefully controls the cooling cycle, alleviating stress from the parts. No stress means no part warpage and best-in-class optical clarity. This is why Edge is able to offer the highest quality consumables in the diagnostic and microfluidic space.
